Jeremie Frimpong linked with January move to Real Madrid

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong has been linked with a move to Real Madrid ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window.

The 20-year-old has been reportedly identified as Carlo Ancelotti's side long-term fix for replacing Spain international Dani Carvajal.

He joined the Bundesliga side on a five-year deal last January from Scottish Premier League giants Celtic.

However, according to media outlet Diarigol, Frimpong looks set to bag another huge transfer.

They report that Real Madrid are keen to sign him to fill the gap at right-back once Carvajal is eased out of the first team.

The 29-year-old is under contract until 2025 like Frimpong, but Carvajal has struggled with injuries recently.

Frimpong was signed from Manchester City in 2019 for a fee in the region of £350,000 by Lennon.

The deal was said to have add-ons, with the Premier League champions reported to have received 30% of the transfer fee when he joined Bayer Leverkusen.

It remains to be seen what percentage of any future sale Celtic will receive for Frimpong.
