Dutch-born defender Jeremie Frimpong scored an own goal as Bayern Leverkusen thrashed Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Leverkusen took the lead through an own-goal from Manuel Akanji in the 10th minute, which was followed by another own-goal at the other end from Frimpong six minutes later.

Florian Wirtz made it 2-1 in the 20th minute, before Robert Andrich scored with a perfectly placed free-kick inside the top left corner with 28 minutes gone.

Jonathan Tah grabbed the fourth in spectacular fashion after 53 minutes and Moussa Diaby wrapped up the rout in the 87th minute before Dortmund substitute Steffen Tigges capitalised on a mistake by Leverkusen to score in injury time.

Frimpong lasted for 88 minutes before being replaced by Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

The highly-rated right-back has made 20 league appearances, scored one goal, and provided six assists for Bayern Leverkusen so far this season.
