Footballghana.com has uncovered that Anderlecht's teenage sensation Jeremy Doku rejected advances from Coach CK Akonnor to play for the Black Stars because he hoped to play for Belgium at the Euro 2020 Championship.

At just 17 years, the player who was born in Belgium with Ghanaian parentage is rated as one of the best young talents in Europe. He has had a breakthrough season at Anderlecht this season and is now wanted by a host of top players in Europe.

Regarded as a prospect for the future, Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor tried to convince him to play for Ghana at the senior level earlier this year when he went on a tour in Europe.

The forward turned down the offer and was hence excluded from the first squad called by the gaffer to the national team.

According to new information available at footballghana.com, it is understood that he dreamt of being included in the Belgian team for the 2020 Euro Championship and that is why he turned down the offer.

Unfortunately for Jeremy Doku, the Euros has been postponed to 2021 due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In the 2019/2020 Belgian Jupiler Pro League season, the teenager made 30 appearances in all competitions as he contributed 4 goals and 3 assists.
