Joel Fameyeh's brace secures Russia Premier League promotion for Rubin Kazan

Ghanaian forward Joel Fameyeh showcased his prowess by scoring a crucial brace against Dinamo Makhachkala, propelling Rubin Kazan to secure promotion to the Russia Premier League for the 2023/24 season.

Rubin Kazan's impressive victory places them four points clear at the top of the 2022/23 Football National League table, amassing 68 points with only one game remaining in the season.

Saturday's win confirmed Rubin Kazan as champions of the Russia second-tier league, marking their successful return to the top flight after suffering relegation in the previous season.

Even with the loss, Baltika have secured the second promotion spot with 64 points from 33 matches, ensuring their participation in the Russian league.

Throughout the season, 26-year-old Joel Fameyeh played a pivotal role in Rubin Kazan's triumphant campaign, leading them back to the top flight in their first attempt. The Black Stars attacker made 30 appearances, scoring an impressive 11 goals, contributing significantly to his team's success.

In the decisive game, Fameyeh demonstrated his scoring prowess by opening the scoring with a header from the middle of the box just before the end of the first half.

Continuing his impactful performance, he tapped in a goal from the far post eight minutes into the second half, securing the victory and igniting the title celebrations for Rubin Kazan.

Joel Fameyeh joined Rubin Kazan at the beginning of the season, making the switch from Russia Premier League club Orenburg.
