Asante Kotoko assistant coach Johnson Smith has explained why Kwame Poku took the penalty at the expense of Naby Keita in their game against Hearts of Oak.

The Porcupine Warriors were held to a 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium in an outstanding matchday 14 fixture of the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking after the game, Smith noted Keita is the club’s penalty taker but he decided to hand his penalty duties to Kwame Poku due to his miss against ES Setif in the Confederations Cup.

“For a penalty kicker we say this guy is good. The guy who took the penalty last time is the same person who always take our penalty but what happened is that, because he of his miss the other time he decided to leave it to Kwame Poku”

“For us, we told them that any person who is confident of scoring should take the ball. In our team, Keita is the penalty taker” he said.

The draw leaves Kotoko in the 6th position with 24 points whereas Hearts of Oak occupy 5th position with 24 points.
