Jokanovic brushes off sack talk

Published on: 28 October 2018

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic claims he has no concerns over his job despite watching his team suffer a fourth straight Premier League defeat against Bournemouth.

The west London outfit were again exposed at the back as the Cherries ran out 3-0 winners at Craven Cottage on Saturday, the Cottagers having now conceded a joint league record 28 goals for the first 10 matches in a top-flight season.

With only five points to their name from the first three months of the season, Fulham find themselves in the relegation zone and are 10/11 to go down.

The home fans expressed their dissatisfaction at full-time of Saturday's game, a match watched by club owner Shahid Khan.

During the week Khan denied reports that he had given Jokanovic two games to save his job, insisting the Serbian coach retains his full support.

Jokanovic says he is paying no attention to the speculation concerning his future at Fulham and is just trying to focus on ending the team's poor run.

"I am not thinking about my future," the 50-year-old told BBC Sport. "I am living my present. I must be brave and keep going."

When assessing his team's performance in the loss to Bournemouth, during which Kevin McDonald was sent-off, Jokanovic added: "Once more the opponent scored easy goals against us.

"We made one mistake at the beginning of the game without needing to do something like this, after 10 minutes where we are fresh enough to be focused and concentrated to not make these mistakes.

"This is the Premier League - everything is faster, more power, more strength; we need to adapt ourselves for this situation."

Fulham face a massive game next Monday evening when they take on bottom club Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Cottagers are 23/10 to win the game, while the Terriers are 6/5 to get their first win of the season. The draw is 23/10.
