Jurgen Klinsmann's son Jonathan has been invited to a Germany goalkeeper camp, setting up a potential battle with the United States for his international registration.

The U.S. under-20 international holds both German and American citizenship, but has yet to receive a senior call up to either national side.

"It's an honour for him," ex-USMNT coach Klinsmann said.

"We will discuss this issue and make a decision should this moment come. If his development continues like that, he must not hide from anyone of his age group."

Having joined Hertha Berlin in 2017, Klinsmann has struggled for first team action and has largely featured for the club's U23 side in the regional fourth division.

But after initial problems settling in, he has progressed and the invitation to the DFB keeper camp marks the first time the 21-year-old has been recognised as a potential future option for Germany.
