Swansea's survival bid will be further boosted by the delayed arrival of deadline day signing Jordan Ayew, who was playing for Ghana in the African Cup of Nations in Gabon, as perSouth Wales Evening Post.

The 25-year-old joined from Aston Villa in a deal which saw Welsh international, Neil Taylor, and £5m head to Steve Bruce's Championship outfit.

His brother Andre announced himself in the Premier League at the Liberty Stadium last season after joining on a free transfer from Marseille, scoring 12 goals before sealing a £20.5m move to West Ham.

After his international duty in Gabon, which saw the Black Stars eliminated in the semi-final against Cameroon before losing to Burkina Faso in the third place play-off, Ayew reported to Swansea's training ground on Wednesdayfor rigorous fitness tests.

The striker is aiming to make his debut in the potential relegation six-pointer against faltering champions, Leicester City, and the next few days will assess his involvement in the build-up to the match to determine his role on game day.

Swans boss, Paul Clement, is pleased to be able to bolster his forward line with the arrival of Ayew and is hoping he will feature in the Sunday fixture.

"He is a positive option, a front player who can play wide or central, he is hungry and proving what a good player he is," he said.

"He wants to perform at this level. He had a mixed time at Villa but we see him as someone with talent who can have a big impact.

"I knew him in his Marseille days and he was a talent there, he was quick, can score goals and we are very happy he is joining us."

The Ghanaian will offer a different option to Fernando Llorente, with his pace and crafty runs the polar opposite style to the physical hold-up play and aerial strength of the Spaniard and the Swans will certainly benefit from the two variable options.
