Jordan Henderson Takes Step Closer to Becoming the New Steven Gerrard With This Amazing Statistic

Published on: 13 November 2016

Jordan Henderson has come a long way.

In 2011, when has was unveiled as Kenny Dalglish's £20m summer signing, the Anfield devoted let out acollective 'ho hum'.

However, since his arrival five years ago,the Reds captain has run, passed andfought his way toproving the doubters wrong and hasgone from strength to strength in a Liverpool side under Jürgen Klopp's stewardship.

This season seems to be the culmination of Hendo's hard work. The Sunderland native is having quite the campaign.

As it stands, Liverpool sit pretty at the top of the Premier League (having playedsome disgustingly good football in the process),and the tireless midfielder is set tocaptain England for the second time, when England take on Spain in Tuesday's international friendly.

As if that wasn't enough to satisfy the 26-year-old, Henderson has also hauled himself to the top of just about every stat chart that matters in the Premier League.

First, it was the revelation that Jordan had completed more passes than anyone elsein the league...

Then, it was announced that he had also covered more blades of grass thana groundsman with a caffeine addiction...

Jordan Henderson has run over 66 miles so far this season according to Opta. Another 12 and he'll have run three marathons on the pitch. pic.twitter.com/CJ0pA50XV3

And now, Opta have crunched the numbers once again to show that, as well as dominating running and passing, 'Hendinho' is also the king of tackles, completing more than (you guessed it)anyone else in the Premier League.

800 “ No Premier League player has completed more passes (800) or made more tackles (47) this season than Jordan Henderson. Influence.

Liverpool's number 14has had some big shoes to fill since the departure of fairly popular player called Steven in 2014.

While Henderson might never be the most glamorous of footballers, he is going some distance (literally) to becoming a Kop legend in his own right.

A minor knock to regular England skipper Wayne Rooney has given 31-capHenderson the opportunity to take the armband in Tuesday's clash with Spain, and he will be hoping to stake his claim to the Three Lions captaincy once Rooney finally calls time on his international career.
