Jose Mourinho Confirms Morgan Schneiderlin Has Asked to Leave Man Utd and He Won't Stand in the Way

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that out of favour midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has asked to leave the club. But he praised the player's conduct and professionalism and additionally stated he will not stand in the way of a potential exit.

It comes shortly after West Brom boss Tony Pulis revealed the Baggies have made an offer.

"Yes", came Mourinho's quick response at his Friday press conference when asked if the French international had requested to quit Old Trafford.

"He is a great professional. A fantastic boy, and very honest and open," Mourinho continued.

"My answer is simple, if he is playing regularly I have a right to say no way. If he is not playing regularly I have no right to say you aren't going anywhere

"If the offer is right and our board thinks the offer is good for a very good player, I would not stop him from going."

Schneiderlin has played just 11 minutes of Premier League football so far this season. He's not even been named among the substitutes for the last four game and has even fallen behind Bastian Schweinsteiger in the midfield pecking order in recent weeks.

Largely through a lack of consistent playing time following his £24m move from Southampton, Schneiderlin failed to impose himself at United last season and went into the new campaign with little to show from what was ultimately a disappointing 2015/16.

He lost his place in the France squad and only went to Euro 2016 as a late call-up to replace the injured Lassana Diarra. He did not see a single minute of action at the tournament.
