Jose Mourinho Targeting Everton Player to Solve Full-Back Riddle

Published on: 09 October 2016

Manchester United seem keen to remain active in the transfer market with boss Jose Mourinho personally visiting Dublin to watch Republic of Ireland international and Everton full-back Seamus Coleman.

The 27-year-old scored the winner against Georgia in his country's recent World Cup qualifier, and impressed the Portuguese coach, who is looking to bolster an area of his squad that he feels isn't up to standard.

The Toffees defender was a target for former Manchester United coach David Moyes in 2013, who also worked closely with the player when he was managerat Goodison Park - however, it appears that Mourinho is stepping up the chase for the attacking full-back by watching him personally.

According to theMetro, this move coincides with the potential departure of United left-back Matteo Darmian, who has been pretty much excluded by the former Chelsea boss, and has been resigned to a place onthe bench for the majority of the season.

According to Various reports, Manchester United are interested in Seamus Coleman and are ready to pay up to £16m for Everton's star.

Darmian looks to prefer a move back to Italy in Serie A, and that could pave the way for Coleman to enter the Red Devils squad in the January transfer window.

In a complete u-turn, Mourinho is also reportedly set to raid Everton further by reuniting himself with Belgian international and former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, whom he sold to Everton for £28m while he was at the helm atStamford bridge.

Mourinho reportedly believes that the towering front-man is the answer to their attacking limitations, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic ageing and captain Wayne Rooney inevitably looking to drop back into midfield.
