Joseph Aidoo handed AFCON debut in Ghana’s match against Guinea Bissau

Belgium based Ghanaian defender Joseph Aidoo has been handed his AFCON debut in Ghana’s final group F match against the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau.

Ahead of the crucial match that will decide the fate of the Black Stars, the Genk center-back has been including in coach Kwesi Appiah’s team to battle the Djurtus in Suez later today.

He missed out on all two previous matches of the West African Country which both ended in a draw.

Having been named in the starting lineup, the 23-year-old defender will partner John Boye who returns from suspension in central defense.

Joseph Aidoo is coming from a season where he impressed for his side and attracted some interest from clubs in Europe. He made 33 appearances in the Belgium top-flight last season as one of the top-performing players.

He comes in to replace Columbus Crew defender Jonathan Mensah who has been ruled out of the match through an injury he suffered in the Cameroon game.

The match between Ghana and Guinea Bissau comes off at 16:00GMT at the Suez Military Stadium.
