Ghanaian midfielder Joseph Amoah was sent off as his side Vitoria Guimaraes drew 2-2 with Sporting Lisbon in the Primeira Liga on Thursday.

The Portuguese top-flight returned on Wednesday after an enforced break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The visitors took an early lead in the 8th minute through Andraz Sporar in an empty D. Afonso Henriques Stadium.

In the 23rd minute, Amoah was shown a yellow card for a needless tackle, though he assisted Joao Teixeira for his side’s equalizer nine minutes later.

After the recess, Sporting regained their lead courtesy Andraz Sporar's sublime finish in the 54th minute but ex-Tottenham Hotspur winger Marcus Edwards bagged the equaliser in the 68th-minute.

While the hosts were chasing maximum points, the Ghanaian was shown the way out for a second caution with 13 minutes to go before full-time.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the home side held firm to secure a vital point.

This was Amoah's fourth red card in his professional career.
