Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has made an immediate impact in Major League Soccer (MLS), earning a spot in the Team of the Week just two games into his career in the North American football league.
Paintsil’s stellar performance came in Los Angeles Galaxy’s 3-1 victory over San Jose Earthquake in the Cali Clasico. The former Tema Youth player showcased his talent by scoring a goal and providing an assist, contributing significantly to Galaxy’s unbeaten start to the season.
This impressive display follows Galaxy’s earlier 1-1 draw against Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, in the season opener.
Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney lauded Paintsil’s contribution, acknowledging his quality and impact on the team’s success in the derby win over San Jose.
Having joined Galaxy from Belgian side KRC Genk last month, Paintsil’s inclusion in the Team of the Week is a testament to his immediate influence in MLS. He was named in the elite team on the left side, alongside Inter Miami’s Luis Suarez and Messi, who occupied the central and right positions respectively.
