Jurgen Klopp Demanded Assurances Over Trusted Assistants Prior to Signing Liverpool Deal

Published on: 01 December 2016

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopprefused to sign his Liverpool contract until assurances were made that his trusted assistants would be brought to the club too, according to theExpress.

The German manager made his move to Anfield from Borussia Dortmund in October 2015 and is widely regarded as a success so far, but the move may not have happened if deals forZeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz weren't thrashed out.

In his first season, Kloppled the Reds to the League Cup final, only losing to Manchester City on penalties. He also took Liverpool to within 45 minutes of lifting the Europa League trophy before Sevilla made a dramatic comeback to win 3-1 at the end of last season.

However in his first full term in Merseyside, Klopp has led his side to second in the Premier Leaguetable, only one point off Chelsea with 13 matches played.

Liverpool have also become the face of attacking football in England as the Reds lead the way for goals scored (32), with Klopp's philosophy of high pressing, fast football being soeffective.

It could have all been different for the club had Klopp not had got his way and the air of optimism surrounding the city may have been non-existent.

Apparentlyhe wanted to ensure deals for assistant boss Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz were signed, sealed and delivered before he put pen to paper on his contract.

Buvac was a former team-mate of Klopp during their time together at Mainz and Klopp rates him very highly as he is said to be the 'brains' behind the Anfield revolution.Krawietzwas chief scout at Mainz and also followed Klopp to Anfield.
