Jurgen Klopp Gives Timetable for Adam Lallana Return After Picking Up Injury in Midweek

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he will be without in-form midfielder Adam Lallana, with the England international picking up an injury during the break.

The 28-year-old did not travel with the rest of the team on Friday as they prepared to take on Southampton, remaining at Melwood to work on his recovery, with the Reds ultimately missing his influence as the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

Lallana scored England's first goal in their friendly against Spain, which played out to a 2-2 draw, but limped off injured later on in the first half. The injury was not thought to be serious, as he gave the crowd a thumbs up, but it now appears that it is more troubling, and will keep him out for a few weeks.

"Adam Lallana is not in because he picked up an injury with England," said Klopp, after being asked if the playerwould be unavailable in the Reds' next Premier League match against Sunderland and the EFL Cup Tie against Leeds United (Express).

Games like this highlight just how much we miss Adam Lallana and his skill, creativity and movement. Key to our side.

"It was serious enough to be not involved today and possibly the next two or three games. We don't know exactly in the moment but that was the only problem we had."

Klopp's team have showed great form this season, and sit atop the table leading the pack. Speaking on the performance, he noted that they could still improve, but that it was more important to play the right way.

"We can improve in each case but the most important case is to do the right thing again," he added.

"A lot of people spoke about keeping the momentum going again but i think it's more important to create it again.
