JUST IN: Eight players axed from camp of Black Maidens

Footballghana.com can report that a total of eight (8) players have been axed from the camp of the Ghana U-17 team, the Black Maidens team today.

A couple of weeks ago, as many as 42 players were invited to begin camping at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence at Prampram. The team has been training there as they prepare for the upcoming qualifiers to the youth world cup.

After observations, the technical team of the Ghana U-17 team has decided to send home 8 players. It is understood that some of the players were asked to go home because of their age while the other went home due to underperformance.

The players axed from the team include Safiatu Salifu and Elizabeth Ayitey [all goalkeepers], Sarah Ohene Nyamekye, Abigail Among, and Esther Anane [all defenders].

The others completing the list are Eunice Kpentey, Sophia Agyaakwa, and Mary Awuah Boateng

Meanwhile, the Black Maidens are expected to play a friendly match against Accra Select Side at the McDan La Town Park on Thursday. According to sources, more players will be sent home after that match.
