Juventus boss Max Allegri has reached a verbal agreement to replace Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in the summer, according to a report intheExpress.

The Italian has been widely touted as the perfect replacement for Wenger, and Allegri has emerged as the Gunners top target should the Frenchman decide his time is up in North London come the end of the season.

Allegri has enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Juventus, guiding the Italian giants to back-to-back Serie A titles in the last few years. It is this kind of success that has really made the Arsenal board stand up and take notice, with Arsene Wenger winning silverware only twice in his last 12 seasons with the club.

With Wenger stalling over a two-year contract extension, the Gunners hierarchy are keen to ensure a contingency plan is in place, and Allegri's willingness to make big money signings has made him a firm favourite amongst Arsenal fans.

With another Serie A title looking ever likely for Juventus this season, Allegri has enjoyed an impressive record since his managerial debut with Italian minnows Aglianese.

As well as guiding Juventus to back-to-back League and Cup doubles, Allegri beat Manchester Unitedboss Jose Mourinhoto the Italian Manager Of The Year award back in 2009 whilst at Cagliari, despite Mourinho leading his Inter team to the title that season. Gunners fans would be hoping for history to repeat itself should Allegri take the Arsenal helm in the summer.

As is so often the case, rumours of how Arsenal could line up next season have been flying around on social media, with Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and Juventus wonderkid Paulo Dybala just two of the names being strongly linked with a move to the Emirates.

However, with Arsene Wenger known for his stubbornness and a two year contract on the table, it's important that Arsenal fans do not get ahead of themselves just yet, with another few years with the Frenchman as Gunners boss still a likely outcome.

The ideal scenario: Wenger leaves,Allegri hired Alexis stays, win trophies
Reality: Wenger signs contract Alexis leaves, the cycle continues
