Juventus lead Serie A clubs with €58 million from Champions League

Published on: 22 August 2018

No matter how the Champions League shakes out this season, Juventus are guaranteed to bring home a cool €58 million from the competition – almost €20m more than their Serie A rivals.

The last three years has seen €1.4 billion available to group stage competitors, but that figure has increased to €1.95b for the 2018/2019 season.

That money will be divided with 25 percent being the base (€488m), 30 percent based on performances (€585m), 30 percent based on historic ranking over the past 10 years (€585m) and 15 percent on market pool (€292m).

In terms of performances, teams will earn €2.7m for every victory and €900,000 for every draw.

All clubs reaching the round of 16 will collect €9.5m, while a quarter-final berth earns €10.5m. Semi-final and final appearances are worth €12m and €15m respectively, with the winner earning another €4m.

With all those factors being considered, Calcio & Finanza reports the least Juventus will earn is €58.4m. Napoli are guaranteed €39.8m, followed by Inter at €38.9m and last season’s semi-finalists Roma at €35.9m.

While all four Italian clubs will receive €15.3m for taking part in the competition, the Bianconeri’s recent success means they lead the way in terms of TV rights and historic ranking – earning €13.4m and €29.7m from those criteria.

Inter – who last played in the competition in 2012 – will only earn €5.9m in TV rights, but their win in 2010 means they will collect €17.7m from their historic ranking.

As for Napoli and Roma, they will receive €10.9m and €8.4m from TV rights and €13.3m and €12.2m from their historic rankings respectively.
