Juventus Looking to Beat Liverpool to Signature of Bundesliga Midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud

Juventus are set to launch a bid to sign Liverpool target, Mahmoud Dahoud, and are confident that they can land the midfielder ahead of the Reds, according to theMirror.

The 20-year-old is highly-sought after by a host of bigteams with PSG the most recent team to indicate interest in the player - having a €34m bid turned down this summer.

Liverpool, one of the sides interested in Dahoud, were held by relegation-battling West Ham on Sunday despite taking an early lead. The Reds currently sit third in the Premier League with talk of a title challenge slowly cooling as the interest shifts towards the club's goalkeeping situation.

Dahoud, however, is not a goalkeeper so he won't be able to help Jurgen Klopp's side out in that respect. The German under-21 international plays for Borussia Monchengladbach, predominantly as a central midfielder with a few appearances deeper in midfield as well as a fewin the number 10 position and a few as a right-midfielder, similar to Jordan Henderson early on in his career.

The Syrian-born midfielder wears the iconic - if you're a Liverpool fan -number 8 jersey for Gladbach, a number that is still vacant at Liverpool since being made available by local hero, Steven Gerrard - a player that Dahoud has drawn one or two comparisons to already.

Juventus, on the other hand, may represent a more attractive choice for Dahoud as the side just went seven points clear at the top of Serie A with a 3-1 win over rivals, Torino. Despite trailing to an early Andrea Belotti goal - his 11th of the season - Juve were able to come out on top thanks to a brace from Gonzalo Higuain and one from Miralem Pjanic late on to wrap things up.

After losing Paul Pogba to Manchester United earlier this year in what was the biggest transfer deal in football history, the Bianconieri could maybe use dynamic midfielder and Dahoud fits the bill as the player looks equally as comfortable taking on players as he does closing them down.

Juve did, of course, sign Pjanic to replace the departing Pogba, but with Marchisio approaching 31, Hernanes already at that age and Khedeira a constant injury worry, Juve may have one eye on the future with 20-year-old Dahoud.
