"Kante is a joy to watch" - Former Dutch player George Boateng

Former Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng has described Chelsea star N’Golo Kante as “a joy to watch” in the centre of the pitch.

Kante and his midfield partner Nemanja Matic, have been hugely impressive following Chelsea manager Antonio Conte’s decision to switch to a 3-4-3 formation, and Boateng reserved special praise for the France international.

Boateng told Sky Sports following Chelsea’s win last Saturday: “They [Matic and Kante] are a joy to watch. You’ve seen even in the previous games they’re getting on the scoresheet and that tells you a lot because the distance is far for a defensive midfielder making the box.

“Kante is a joy to watch, he’s fantastic. He makes them play really well. His break-up play is good, but the release of the ball – the first pass – is always forward, trying to find a player in a better position to move forward.

“Matic has controlled the game. They make it look so effortless and believe me out there it’s not.”

Boateng is a former Dutch footballer who is of Ghanaian descent. He is currently the technical director of Kelantan FA playing in Malaysia Super League.
