Ghanaian politician, Haruna Iddrisu has taken over Ghana Premier League side, Karela United as the new owner according to GHANASoccernet.com.

The Ayinase-based club have struggled in terms of finance following the demise of Senator David Brigidi, who was the owner of the club in 2018.

He was the owner of Karela Oil & Gas in Ghana and Nigeria, Karela Hotels & Resort Ghana, Re-Routine Air Limited, Adef Energy Services, Shores & Savannah (Law Partners) and South Field Petroleum.

However, the reports add that deal was done before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break.

Kaela United is expected to be relocated to the Northern Region following the takeover.

After eight rounds of matches, Karela United are 14th on the table with 10 points from the available 24.

Haruna Iddrisu, who is the Minority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament and representative for Tamale South Constituency also owns Division One League side Steadfast FC.
