Karela United coach Yahaya wants 2019/20 season to resume amid coronavirus outbreak

Karela United head coach Mallam Yahaya wants the Ghana Football Association to resume the 2019/20 league season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

All football leagues have been suspended since mid-March as part of measures to help curb the spread of the disease.

Discussions are currently ongoing about how to finish the season with Aduana leading the table with 28 points after 15 matches played before the topflight was halted.

The Ghana Football Association has set June 30 as the date they decide the future of the league.

"Some people want the league cancelled but for me I want it to be continued. I was expecting the Covid-19 pandemic to delay the restart of the European league. But they are back playing," he said.

"The government and FA should just put the measure to allow football to return. Washing hands, using sanitizers and after training wash your hands again.

"Now the fear is not as it use to before and movement is going on like nothing has happened. Why can’t we play?"

The Football Association proposed weekly testing of all players and also training in smaller groups but did not meet the expectation of the government.
