Karela United signs forward Welbeck Takyi on two-year deal

Ghana Premier League side, Karela United have completed the signing of forward Welbeck Takyi in the ongoing transfer window.

The 22-year-old striker has signed a two-year deal with the struggling Ghana Premier League outfit and is expected to play a huge role for the club in the second half of the 2023/24 season.

Takyi joins the Tamale-based club from fellow Premier League club Aduana Stars following an unsuccessful spell with the Dormaa-based outfit.

The forward joined Aduana Stars in 2021 from Bofoakwa Tano following his blistering campaign for Bofoakwa in the Division One League but he failed to live up to expectation due to an injury setback. However, he mutually parted ways with the fire boys before the start of the season.

He will hope to rediscover his form again with Karela United in the second half of the domestic top-flight campaign.

With the second round of the Ghana Premier League set to kick start in February, the enterprising forward is expected to play a part for the Anyinase side in their quest to escape relegation following their poor run in the first round.

Welbeck Takyi shot into fame when he registered 20 goals in 24 games for Bofoakwa in the 2020/21 Division One League, which earned him a call-up to join the Black Stars under former trainer C.K. Akonnor.
