Kasim Nuhu Adams and Emmanuel Essiam’s FC Basel will face Fiorentina in the semifinals of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The Ghanaian duo featured on Thursday night when Basel inflicted a 2-1 away win over French outfit OGC Nice in the second leg tie of the quarterfinals to qualify.
Basel progressed on a 4-3 aggregate since the first leg ended 2-2 last week in Switzerland.
Kasim Nuhu Adams emerged as the hero for Basel after scoring the winning goal to propel the club to the semi-finals. The 27-year-old started and lasted the entire duration as his side cruised to victory.
The Black Meteor midfielder played a part in the game for Basel after he was brought on in the 106th minute when he replaced Taulant Xhaka.
Meanwhile, the Ghanaian duo are expected to face off with compatriot Joseph Alfred Duncan, who plies his trade for Fiorentina.
The Italian club secured qualification at the expense of Lech Poznan after completing a 6-4 aggregate score despite defeat in the second leg tie.
Duncan was not in action when his outfit suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Lech Poznan on Thursday night.
Fiorentina will host FC Basel in the first leg of the semifinals on May 11 before the reverse tie in Switzerland.
