Ghanaian center-back Kassim Nuhu has heaped praises on Fortuna Dusseldorf manager Fredhelm Funkel whiles further explaining that he has been a father figure for him since his arrival at the club.
The Black Stars defender joined the German Bundesliga side on a season-long loan from TSG Hoffeinham in a bid to ensure he gets to enjoy regular playing time.
Though he endured a difficult start to the season due to some injuries, he has finally picked up and has become of the trusted assets at the back for head coach Friedhelm Funkel.
Kasim has opened up on life at Fortuna Dusseldorf under the manager and has shared that he is an excellent manager who has a very good relationship with his players.
"He and Friedhelm Funkel are both excellent coaches. Funkel has been in the Bundesliga for so many years, he has tremendous experience. He speaks a lot to us, he helps us a lot and is like a father figure to us.
"Most of the time he speaks German, but sometimes he also explains things to us in English. He puts all the pressure on us to keep players clear of their heads. The coach is very good for the club and just right in our situation”, the 24-year-old said in an interview with rp-online.de.
Kasim Nuhu further stressed that Fortuna has good quality in their team and can only get better if they continue to work hard in subsequent matches.
"We have enough individual quality in the team, and we are working very hard to get back to our best”, he added.
