Former Hearts of Oak coach, Kenichi Yatsuhashi has congratulated his former club for beating Asante Kotoko to win the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League trophy.

After going several years without major silverware, the Accra-based side has finally broken the 12-year jinx, having last won a major trophy in 2009.

The Phobians won the title with one game left to play in the 2020/21 football season after their 1-1 draw with Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

"I’d like to congratulate Accra Hearts of Oak and their supporters for winning 2020-2021 Ghana Premier League.  “Never say die!” he wrote on his official Facebook handle.

The title will be handed to Hearts on Sunday when they face WAFA in Sogakope in the final round of matches of the 2020/21 season.

Yatsuhashi was the Head Coach of the Phobians in the 2015/16 season. He later managed clubs like Inter Allies and Aduana Stars before leaving the country.

The Japanese trainer is currently with Sri Lanka Premier League outfit Navy Sea Hawks FC after ending a short spell in India with Lonestar Kashmir
