Keown backs Everton starlet Lookman to start against Liverpool

Ex-Everton star Martin Keown believes Ademola Lookman deserves a chance to start against Liverpool this weekend after he bagged two goals in the Toffees 3-0 win over Apollon Limassol on Thursday night.

The 20-year-old, signed from Charlton last January, has featured six times in the Premier League this season.

But with new boss Sam Allardyce at the helm, Keown reckons it might be time to give the youngster a chance.

"Lookman is a real talent, Koeman wouldn't use him, this here he just checks back, takes an extra touch there, I think he should have delivered that a bit sooner," said Keown.

"But he really caught the eye and he likes to run at people, he asks questions.

"Koeman obviously didn't feel he was ready but he looks ready to me

"At the weekend (against Liverpool), I'm sure Sam's watching this thinking 'we have players who can express themselves', (Kevin) Mirallas as well was doing that.

"He runs with the ball beautifully, look at this as well for a little pass, that's real quality. It's all in his game, it's about bringing it out.

"There's a lot of venom in that shot from a young man who's got a point to prove. That's good news again for Sam Allardyce."
