Germany-born defender, Kingsley Schindler has opened up on why he chose to play for the Ghana Black Stars.

Having been born in Germany, the FC Koln man could have represented the country at the senior national team level.

However, in the March international break, he was part of the Black Stars squad that played in the two matches against Angola in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Speaking to Fox FM in Kumasi on his decision to play for the Black Stars, Kingsley Schindler said he followed his heart.

According to him, he is thankful to new head coach Chris Hughton and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the opportunity.

“The decision to play for the Black Stars was a heart choice. Thanks to Coach Chris Hughton and the GFA,” Kingsley Schindler said.

The defender who can also play as a midfielder has returned to FC Koln after the international break.

He must play well and stay in the good books of Coach Chris Hughton for another call-up to the Black Stars in the next assignment.
