Kjaer aiming high with Sevilla

Published on: 17 October 2018

Sevilla defender Simon Kjaer has challenged his side to maintain their lofty position in La Liga and also challenge for silverware in cup competitions.

Los Rojiblancos top the Spanish league after eight games played, having won four games in a row after claiming just one victory from their opening four fixtures.

Our ambitions are to have everything to play for when we approach the final weeks of the season.

Their slow start came on the back of an extensive Europa League qualifying campaign which means Sevilla have already played 17 matches in all competitions this season.

However, Denmark international Kjaer is confident that there will be no let-up from his team in the coming months and he is excited about the challenges that lie ahead.

He told Omnisport: "I am surprised that we are top of the table right now, especially after losing two games in a row (near) the beginning of the season, but I am not surprised that we have developed so well.

"It is too early to talk about (the title), but no doubt we enjoy the view from the top of the table right now.

"Maybe it sounds a bit boring, but as a footballer you have to take one game at the time. Our ambitions are to have everything to play for when we approach the final weeks of the season.

"In the Europa League, the Copa del Rey and being up there with the absolute giants in La Liga."

Sevilla are priced at 10/11 to finish in the top four in La Liga, while they are 16/1 to win the Copa del Rey and 14/1 to triumph in the Europa League for the fourth time in six seasons.
