Klopp: Fabinho becoming important

Published on: 23 November 2018

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has rubbished talk of summer recruit Fabinho being allowed to leave the club and he expects good things from the midfielder in the future.

The 25-year-old Brazil international moved to Anfield from Monaco for a fee in the region of £40million, but has taken time to find his feet in English football, making just three Premier League starts to date.

Of course he will not leave, that would be completely crazy.

However, amid rumours of possible interest from Italy, Klopp has dismissed any suggestions that the South American could be on the move.

He told reporters ahead of a Saturday afternoon trip to Watford: "He was always one for the future. He's settling, he played three of the last four games, he did well.

"Now is coming up to the most intense period of the year of the whole season, it's unbelievable how many games we have.

"He used the time to adjust to what we want him to do and that's what's really good in the last games he played.

"Of course he will not leave, that would be completely crazy. He doesn't want to leave."

The Reds go into their clash with the Hornets defending an unbeaten league record, having won nine and drawn three in the Premier League so far this season.

Their last outing before the international break saw them win 2-0 at home to lowly Fulham and the Merseysiders are 15/2 to claim another 2-0 victory on Saturday.

The Reds are 11/8 to keep a clean sheet at Vicarage Road and 7/2 to win by a two-goal margin.
