Kluivert convinced Roma was the right move

Published on: 30 December 2018

After starting just six Serie A matches for Roma so far this season, Justin Kluivert is more than convinced that he made the right choice in moving to the Italian capital.

The 19-year-old winger made the €18.25 million move from Ajax to the Giallorossi in the summer, and became the youngest Roma player to score in the Champions League after bagging the fourth goal? in 5-0 home victory against Viktoria Plze?.

However, chances in Eusebio Di Francesco’s side have been limited, with the Dutchman coming off the bench more often than not for Roma.

“I understand that there are questions from the Netherlands [over the move],” Kluivert told Elf Voetbal. “But I am still fully convinced of my decision to move to Roma.

“The first half of the year has been good for me personally, and I think that I will be able to show a lot more, as a person and with the team, in 2019. The best is really yet to come!”

Since moving to Roma, Kluivert has gone from living with his parents to living by himself, which he sees as a personal challenge.

“It took some time to get used to,” he added, “but so far I like it. Both on and off the field I’m seen as an adult and therefore have already taken quite a few steps [in the right direction].”
