According to reports Asante Kotoko's board is not happy with the management's intention to dismiss eight players considered surplus to requirement by the new club technical staff led by Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.

One of Asante Kotoko's important players in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League, Emmanuel Gyamfi, who is also the club's deputy captain, was among those considered surplus to requirements.

Kwame Adom Frimpong, Emmanuel Sarkodie, Abdul Latif Anabila, Samuel Frimpong, Ibrahim Osman, Godfred Asiamah, and Habib Mohammed were among the others.

Kumasi-based radio station Silver FM stated that, the majority of the club's board members have protested the management's plan to dismiss eight players, including deputy captain Emmanuel Gyamfi.

Asante Kotoko captain Felix Annan, Augustine Okrah, Martin Antwi, Richard Senanu, and Wahab Adams all departed the club when their contracts expired a few weeks ago.

The Porcupine Warriors are hoping to create a strong team this season to challenge for both the league and the FA Cup trophies under Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
