Kotoko coach Abdul Gazale claim goalie Frederick Asare didn’t help in stalemate against Tamale City

Asante Kotoko coach Abdul Gazale has expressed displeasure about the performance of goalkeeper Frederick Asare following their stalemate against Tamale City.

The Ghanaian top-flight newbies put in a spirited performance to earn a significant point from the match after holding the defending champions to a 1-1 stalemate at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Porcupine Warriors were first to draw the blood in the matchday 29 fixture after youngster Rocky Dwanema scored a sumptuous goal in the 36th minute.

But the Tamale-based club got the equalising goal a few minutes later through Mohammed Yahaya after taking advantage of a defensive mishap by Kotoko.

“Before the match, we worked on certain areas but unfortunately, we couldn’t keep to that particular task because when you look at the way they equalized our goal, it was the same mistake we have been doing and this time, I don’t know what to say again but we will keep on working with them”

“The players were just standing and could see our players were far behind the ball instead of attacking the ball, unfortunately, the goalkeeper too didn’t help, sometimes he has to save us, he has been doing it but this one, he got it wrong and I think it’s something we have to look at it” he told StarTimes.

Kotoko remains in the 6th position on the league standings with 43 points from 29 matches and are seven points behind leaders Aduana Stars, who have a game in hand.
