Head Coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kjetil Zachariassen has expressed concern over the astroturf pitch of Kano Pillars as his side gear towards their clash in the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League next month.

The Ghana Premier League giants are used to playing on natural grass over the years but will have to adjust when they visit the Sani Abacha Stadium in Nigeria for the first leg of the Champions League tie.

Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa FM ahead of the clash, Coach Kjetil Zachariassen has indicated that the main issue for his side will be how to adjust to play at the top level on the astroturf.

“Nigeria we know quite well but it's the ground, the AstroTurf they play on, so we will be digging deep into that, what type of field we gonna play, so that will be the main issue so we are preparing for it”, the gaffer said.

The Porcupine Warriors are on schedule as far as preparations for the match is concerned and has already played one high profile international friendly against Rahimo FC which they won 2-1 over the weekend.

The first leg of the match between Kotoko and Kano Pillars will be played on Sunday, August 10, 2019.
