Kotoko coach Mariano Barreto hopeful of winning GPL title despite Hearts defeat

Asante Kotoko coach Mariano Barreto is still hopeful of winning Ghana Premier League title despite losing 1-0 to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Accra Sports stadium.

Daniel Afriyie Barnie scored the only goal of the match in the 66th minute to give the Phobians the maximum points and handed the Porcupine Warriors their fifth defeat of the season.

Kotoko are now three points behind Hearts with three matches left to play.

''We made one mistake in the match and we conceded the goal. We had a great chance with [Augustine] Okrah, easy but we didn't make it (score).  So if you don't make the goals (score), you accept the result. Congratulations to Hearts,'' Barreto StarTimes in a post-match interview.

''But I award (praise) my players. They fought, they made everything. In the end we have to wait till the end of the league."

Asante Kotoko will look to bounce back to winning ways when they take on King Faisal on match week 32 of the Ghana Premier League.
