Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach, Maxwell Konadu has stressed that the wants striker Sogne Yacouba to stay at the club.

The Porcupine Warriors risks losing the Burkinabe import on a free transfer at the end of February 2020 if they do not find a way to convince him to agree to a contract extension.

Talks between the two parties started weeks ago but could not reach fusion with Kotoko citing that they will not be able to meet the monthly salary of $150,000 being demanded by Sogne Yacouba.

Due to the transfer saga, the striker was dropped by coach Maxwell Konadu when the club faced off with Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

At a post-match press conference after the super clash which ended 2-1 in favour of the reds, Coach Maxwell Konadu explained why he dropped his top marksman while insisting that he remains a player wanted by the Kumasi-based side.

“We left him out because we felt he wasn’t mentally calm or focused. That is why we left him out but either than that Yacouba is a good player, he is a Kotoko player and we want him”, the experienced tactician said.

“We need to talk to his agents and settle issues that we have back at home before he comes back to play”, coach Maxwell Konadu concluded.
