Former Ghana coach CK Akonnor has advised both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak ahead of their African campaigns.

The Porcupine Warriors and the Phobians will be representing Ghana in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively in the 2022/23 season.

Ahead of the competition, CK Akonnor, who guided Kotoko to the money zone has urged the two most glamourous clubs in the country to beef up their technical team.

“Kotoko and Hearts must strengthen their technical teams by adding a video analyst. “We mostly go into Africa without knowing anything about the opponents”

“The services of a video analyst are crucial. He does a lot to support tactical planning for the coach. During my days at Kotoko, I entreated management to get one for me and it helped us a lot. During my time with the Black Stars, I also enlisted his services and his presence helped a lot."

“Getting a technical director is important but a video analyst is the best thing our clubs need now going into Africa because their services will be very helpful to the teams.” He told Akoma FM.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have been exempted from the first round of the preliminary stages. They will begin their season in the second round.

The preliminary round draws for the Champions League and Confederations Cup will take place on Tuesday, August 9.

Kotoko will learn their opponent for the first preliminary round on Tuesday.
