Kotoko players lack match fitness – Stephen Manu ahead of new season

Former Kotoko attacker Stephen Manu has raised concerns about the fitness of the players ahead of the start of the new season.

The domestic top-flight will commence this weekend, with Kotoko expected to take on Ghana Premier League returnees Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Having endured a torrid season last-term, the Porcupine Warriors are making effort to make impact in the forthcoming campaign.

But Stephen Manu seems not to be impressed with the preparations of the club ahead of the season.

“Asante Kotoko players lack match fitness and they need another month for preseason” he said.

“The players are not prepared for the upcoming season so if the league can be postponed for the players to prepare very well for the season” he said.

Kotoko wrapped up their preseason with a pulsating goalless draw against Nsoatreman FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
