Asante Kotoko has written to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to inform the body that they reject the decision by the Players Status Committee in the case involving four former players.

The club on Monday was ordered by the Players Status Committee to pay GHS198,000 to ex-players Abass Mohammed, Mathew Kelvin Andoh, Stephen Tetteh Aryiku, and Evans Owusu.

The said players had earlier dragged the team before the committee for unlawful termination of their contracts without compensation.

After sitting on the case, the Players Status Committee ruled that Asante Kotoko must settle the players in excess of GHS198,000 in the next 14 days or face a transfer ban.

Having taken receipt of the decision, the Kumasi-based club says they reject it.

“As we earlier indicated we do not agree to the decisions of the Players Status Committee (PSC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and have resolved to file an appeal. We however note quite unfortunate that there are no procedural rules concerning a roadmap for the filing of an appeal and a clear law to invoke the jurisdiction of the GFA Appeals Committee,” part of a letter to the GFA signed by Kotoko Administrative Manager Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi has said.

The letter continues, “In the circumstance, we kindly request you to advise us on the legal roadmap to use concerning our decision to file an appeal against the above-mentioned decisions."

Meanwhile, information gathered has revealed that Asante Kotoko could proceed to CAS if they are unable to file an appeal on the matter.
