Kurt ES Okraku voted president of Ghana Football Association

Kurt Okraku, Owner of Dreams FC has been elected as the new president of the Ghana Football Association.

The election was held on Friday ,October 25 at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra said part of the Ghana Football Association’s extra ordinary congress.

The first round of the election saw candidate Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku in the lead as he polled 44 out of 120 votes with his close competitors George Afriyie and Nana Yaw Amponsah recording 40 and 27 votes respectively.

Fred Pappoe, who formerly served as the vice president of the FA polled 6 votes as less fancied Amanda Clinton and Lawyer George Ankomah got 0 votes.

As a result, Mr. Pappoe conceded defeat and decided not to contest in the second round leaving only 3 candidates in the race.

In the second round, Kurt came two short of the 61 land mark on 59 while George went up to 43 with Nana Yaw Amponsah dropping 11 votes to 16.

This forced a third round but before the third round, George Kwasi Afriyie conceded defeat and as a result confirmed Kurt Okraku as new Ghana football association president.

  • Kurt formerly served on the executive committee and also was the chairman of the FA Cup organising committee. His work was duly appreciated and delegates have followed up in electing him to lead Ghana football for the next 4 years.
