Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) President Kwabena Yeboah has backed Asante Kotoko coach Charles Kwablan Akunnor to succeed Kwesi Appiah as the next Black Stars coach.

According to Kwabena Yeboah, the 44-year-old gaffer has been impressive so far with the Reds job in his first stint after penning a three-deal with the club - leading them to the Caf Confederation Cup group stage for the first time since 2008.

Speaking to Class FM in an interview, the veteran sports Journalist says Akunnor has the credentials to be the next national team coach.

“He’s good enough to handle the national team".

Kwabena Yeboah said. “I don’t know what C.K requires again to be able to handle the national team". “He’s the reason I think we don’t need any expatriate coach to handle the national team.

“I think Kwesi Appiah is good enough but if at a point Kwesi feels that he needs to exit, we still have C.K Akunnor to take over".

“So far, I think that he has been brilliant."

After beating Nkana 3-0 last Sunday, Akunnor will be expected to be in the dugout when Porcupine Warriors welcome Al Hilal to the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in race for qualification to the next round of the competition.
