Kwadwo Asamoah is an important buy for Inter in Serie A title challenge - Francesco Guidolin

Former Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin has lauded Juventus' acquisition of Black Stars midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah.

Asamoah, 29, joined the Nerazzurri from Juventus after six-year stay following his acquisition from Udinese in 2012.

He has won some early admirers with his fine performance for Luciano Spalletti's outfit in pre-season so far.

Having largely played at left-back or left-full-back during his time with the Old Lady, the topic over Asamoah's best position continues to dominate discussions, particularly following Saturday's impressive showing in the heart of the pitch against English side Chelsea.

"Who can compete with Juventus? Inter, as long as the team follows Spalletti," Guidolin, under whom Asamoah played at Udinese between 2010 and 2012, told La Gazzetta delo Sport.

"Inter started on an excellent note and improved with [the acquisition of Stefan] de Vrij and [Raja] Nainggolan.

"Plus he [Spalletti] got a player that I would like anywhere. Who? Asamoah, whom I trained in Udine.

"With me, he played half-way and covered the incursions of [Pablo] Armero. He can do everything. He is an important buy."

Asamoah won six Serie A titles, four Coppa Italia winner's medals and three Super Cup titles and has decided to pursue a new challenge, having seen his importance at the Allianz Stadium decrease over the years.
