Kwesi Appiah has revealed that he has no regrets coaching the Black Stars of Ghana.

Coach Appiah parted ways with the team in December last year after the Ghana Football Association refused to extend his contract.

The 58-year-old, who was replaced by CK Akonnor became the first Black coach to qualify Ghana to the FIFA World Cup in 2014.

Ghana’s shock exit in the round of 16 at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations led to his departure with the hierarchy not impressed by the team's performance.

"I don’t see any regret within my tenure at the national team of Ghana," he told Light FM.

"I did the best that I could which yielded results. And the most important thing is that you leave a legacy behind which will serve as a precedent for the upcoming talents.

He added, "I was unfortunate then because of most of the time of handling the National Team.

“It was like I must search for quality players to replace the ones fading away, my first time in 2014 was a clear example to replace Essien, Stephen Appiah, Muntari, with Jordan, Atsu, and it continued during my second time."
