Kwesi Appiah shocked over the exit of Steve Pollack

Head coach of the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah is surprised by the exit of Steve Pollack as the head coach of the club.

The Reds appointed the Englishman to replace Zdravko Lugarusic in the middle of the 2016/7 season and finished in the 5th position with 43 points and won the FA Cup in his first season.

Kotoko failed to progress to the next round of the CAF inter-club competition.

The Porcupine Warriors were crashed out of the competition by CARA Club 7-6 on penalties in Congo on Wednesday.

On Friday, the club officially released a statement parting ways with the former Berekum Chelsea.

But Kwesi Appiah is shocked after Kotoko parted ways with Steve Pollack.

"To be honest I don't know why they have sacked him maybe there is something we don't know," he said.

"I didn't watch their match in Congo and I didn't even get the chance to listen to the commentary but then I saw the team played well in the first leg in Kumasi.

"Am yet to find out the exact course of their defeat in Congo but I don't agree that coaches are to blame when a team loses on a penalty shootout.

"Maybe his team created chances and could not score, maybe it could be an off-the-field problem."
