Asante Fokuo, Personal Aide to experienced Ghanaian trainer, James Kwesi Appiah has denied reports that the latter has been appointed as head coach of the Sudan national team.

Report went rife on Wednesday morning that the former Black Stars coach has been appointed to lead the Sudan national team on a three-year deal.

In a dramatic event, Appiah’s camp has denied such report and has therefore as ked the public to treat it with the needed contempt it deserves.

Despite denying the move, Asante Fokuo has confirmed interest from Zambia, Sudan and other clubs.

“This is not true as at today Wednesday 20th September, 2023. I can confirm that some National teams like Zambia, Sudan and clubs have expressed interest in coach Kwesi Appiah but he has never signed any contract with any team”, he said.

Appiah was relieved off his position as coach of the Black Stars in January 2020 under Kurt Okraku’s led Ghana FA.

He was the first Ghanaian coach to coach the Black Stars at the World Cup after leading the team during the 2014 Mundial in Brazil.

Appiah is currently the technical director of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko after being named among a four-member Interim Management Committee to steer affairs of the club following the dissolution of the Board and Management at the end of last season.
