Ghanaian defender Lalas Abubakar has revealed that he looks up to compatriot Jonathan Mensah and Brazilian defender Thiago Silva as his role models.
The 25-year-old center-back currently plays his football in the Major League Soccer (MLS) with Colorado Rapids.
After being named the defender of the year for his team in 2019, he is now regarded as one of the best center-backs in the division.
Speaking to Accra FM in an interview last Saturday, Lalas Abubakar has opened up on the players he looks up to.
“I look up to Thiago Silva. He is someone I really admire. And also my big brother, Jonathan Mensah who I used to play with at Columbus Crew.
“Playing alongside him [Jonathan Mensah] I learned a lot from him. He always advised me so he is one person I look up to”, Lalas Abubakar noted.
The former Ghana U-20 defender is bent on improving his game and says he is patiently waiting to get the chance to play for the Black Stars teams.
