Former Ghana Black Starlets head coach, Laryea Kingston, expressed his pride in contributing to the development of the current cohort of players representing the nation in the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations.

Kingston, who recently resigned from his position following Ghana's 2-1 loss to Burkina Faso in the tournament, took to his WhatsApp status to share his satisfaction at working with the team.

He announced his resignation during the post-match press conference, stating that he would elaborate on his reasons later.

Kingston's departure sparked controversy, with accusations of using inappropriate language and being absent without leave, as he reportedly failed to attend a post-match team meeting with the management and technical staff.

However, Kingston's WhatsApp status update seemed to indicate no ill feelings towards the FA.

He concluded his post with the words, "...long Live GFA," while expressing admiration for the players' performances. "Love you guys so much son," he wrote, underscoring his affection for the team.

In response to Kingston's message, the team captain, Benjamin Tsivanyo, referred to Kingston as a father figure, expressing appreciation with the words, "Much love father," accompanied by a picture of himself and Kingston.

Ghana is scheduled to face Nigeria in the third-place playoff of the competition on May 28, as the team continues its journey in the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations.
