Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo has expressed his shock over the sudden resignation of Laryea Kingston.

The former Ghana international on Saturday resigned from his role as the head coach of the Black Starlets following the team's failure to secure a place in the final of the ongoing 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.

Ghana suffered a 2-1 defeat against Burkina Faso at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in their semifinal game.

"The Executive Council were surprised with Laryea Kingston's decision to resign from his job because we have a game to play against Nigeria on Tuesday," he told Asemapa FM as monitored by Footballghana.com.

"The Management Committee then sent a letter to (Executive Council) informing us about Kingston's decision because he had informed the team about his decision to resign after the game which is surprising."

Assistant coach of the side, Jacob Nartey will take charge of the 3rd and 4th place game against Nigeria on Tuesday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
