Lazio recorded a club record tenth consecutive Serie A win by beating Napoli 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, courtesy of a David Ospina error.

The Napoli goalkeeper was tackled by Ciro Immobile inside his box with eight minutes remaining, and the league top scorer made no mistake by curling in his 20th finish of the season.

In doing so, Immobile, climbed to joint-fourth in Lazio’s all-time scoring charts, alongside Bruno Giordano on 108 goals.

Lorenzo Insigne’s bending free-kick was smartly tipped over by Thomas Strakosha in the first half, but Ospina had to be alert to deny Sergej Milinkovic-Savic twice in the space of two minutes before the break.

Napoli threatened more in the second half and were inches from taking the lead when Piotr Zielinski bent a shot off the foot of the post, before Insigne’s low shot was well saved.

Disaster struck for Gennaro Gattuso’s side when Ospina was robbed of possession inside his own box, and Immobile’s finish found the net as Giovanni Di Lorenzo volleyed in a finish in a desperate bid to clear off the line.

Lazio remain third on 42 points, three behind joint leaders Inter and Juventus, while Napoli slide to 10th place on 24 points.
